TOPARCHERY Archery Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow Review

As an avid archer with experience in various types of shooting and bows, I recently decided to search for a new recurve bow that would suit my needs for both instinctive shooting and hunting. After doing extensive research, I settled on the TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow.

Overall, I think this bow is decent for the price, but it does have some flaws that make it a less-than-perfect choice. Below are my detailed thoughts on the bow’s features and performance.

Packaging and Instructions

Packaging and instructions can be a make or break situation when it comes to purchasing a product. I, for one, have been disappointed on multiple occasions where the packaging is damaged or the instructions provided were not very helpful. It’s frustrating, but fortunately for me, my most recent purchase of a bow wasn’t completely ruined by this experience.

You know, when the delivery guy dropped off the box containing my new bow, I was pretty bummed – it looked like it had been through the wringer during shipping! But guess what? As soon as I opened that package, I felt a wave of relief – my precious bow had survived unscathed!

Unfortunately, after unpacking everything, I realized that the instruction manual was not going to be much help in assembling my brand new bow. The general steps outlined were clear enough – attach this here and that there – but when it came to attaching the limb bolts specifically, things became murky.

As someone who sees themselves as pretty competent at following assembly instructions (seriously, if you give me IKEA furniture and an Allen key I’ll build you a bed in no time), I found myself struggling with figuring out how exactly these bolts were supposed to fit into place. Ultimately, after some trial and error and some internet research to supplement what was missing from the manual, I managed to assemble my bow correctly.

Riser Powder Coating

The powder coating, interestingly enough, seemed to be thinner than anticipated, with a few patches where it was entirely absent. While this discrepancy may not have a direct impact on the bow’s performance, it does unfortunately take away from its overall visual appeal and aesthetic charm.

The Riser is an integral part of any bow as it plays a crucial role in terms of stability, balance, and accuracy during use. Therefore, it’s essential that all components are properly finished and coated to ensure durability and longevity. The missing sections on my bow made me question the quality control measures taken while manufacturing this product or if it could have possibly been damaged during shipping.

Sting Serving

Another problem with this bow is the Sting Serving. As a finger-shooter myself, I found that I needed to reverse the serving in order to make full use of the bow. This was quite frustrating as there was no reference to this adjustment in either the instructions or on Amazon’s listing for the product. It would have been helpful if this had been clearly stated prior to purchasing the bow, as it could have prevented a potentially disappointing experience for some buyers.

Limb Bolts

The limb bolts of any archery bow are crucial components that allow you to tune the bow to your desired shooting style and draw weight. However, many users have reported difficulty in attaching them due to unclear instructions. To avoid this problem, take your time and review the user manual thoroughly before attempting to install the limb bolts.

Additionally, it is crucial to remember that pre-lubricating them can contribute to their optimal functioning in the long run. Moreover, inspecting for any flaws or damages on the limb bolts prior to use is vital, as this could pose a risk and inflict harm during shooting.

Felt Dampener

While felt is included as a standard feature of the bow, many users have found that it doesn’t perform as well as they would like at reducing noise and vibration.

Fortunately, replacing the felt dampener with a thin rawhide or Teflon wafer is an easy fix that can pay off big time on the range or in the field. These materials are better at absorbing and dispersing energy than felt, which means you’ll experience less noise and vibration when shooting your bow. This can improve your accuracy and give you more confidence with each shot.

Of course, if you’re just starting out or enjoy archery casually, replacing your felt dampener might not be on the top of your list. But hey, for those super passionate about the sport or striving to up their game, swapping out this tiny yet crucial piece could truly make a world of difference!

Stringer

Stringing your bow correctly is incredibly important. Not only does it ensure that your shot is accurate, but it can also protect you and your gear from potential damage. Unfortunately, the stringer that comes with the TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow doesn’t quite meet expectations.

Unlike other stringers that make the process a breeze, this one requires a bit more skill and patience. It may not be ideal for beginners or those who are less experienced with bow maintenance. However, once you get the hang of things, using this particular stringer should become easier over time and with practice.

Limb Twist

Receiving a product that isn’t up to par with your expectations can be a disappointing experience, and I was devastated when I realized my TOPARCHERY Recurve Bow wasn’t in perfect condition.

As soon as I laid my eyes on it after unboxing, there was a glaring twist in the top limb which might have resulted from various factors. While handling such issues can be vexing, it’s crucial to keep in mind that these situations might occur because of shipping mishaps or even subpar manufacturing practices.

While this may not be the norm for TOPARCHERY products, my experience serves as a reminder that sometimes unexpected issues can arise.

Performance

The TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow may have some flaws, but it certainly has its strong suits when it comes to performance. What makes this bow stand out is its exceptional ability for instinctive shooting. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced archer, the TOPARCHERY recurve bow offers great handling and stability that will allow you to focus on your aim and become more accurate in your shots.

But wait, there’s even more! This exceptional bow has rapidly gained popularity amongst hunters, owing to its remarkable minimum draw weight of 35lbs and incredible precision at shorter distances. Therefore, if a hunting expedition is on your agenda in the near future, this recurve bow could very well be the flawless partner for your thrilling outdoor journey.

Another impressive feature of the TOPARCHERY Hunting Recurve Bow is the wide range of arrow weights and lengths it can accommodate. This means that you don’t need to worry too much about your arrow choice; nearly all types will work well with this bow.

Brace Height

Despite its relatively simple concept, the brace height is an essential aspect of properly using your TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow. By maintaining a low brace height, you’re making it easier for yourself to string the bow properly – allowing you to get out and start hunting or practicing right away.

Moreover, maintaining the brace height within the suggested parameters (ranging from 6 to 7 inches) guarantees that your bow achieves peak performance, providing you with exceptional speed and precision while shooting. So whether you’re new to the world of archery or simply desire to revisit fundamental techniques, remember to stay vigilant about that brace height! This way, you’ll be granting yourself an excellent opportunity for triumph using your new bow.

Other Parts of Package

In addition to the TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow, this bundle also includes a practical bag and an arrow rest. While these accessories may not be the star of the show, they undoubtedly serve valuable purposes. The bag provides efficient storage and transportation for your bow; however, it doesn’t boast any exclusive attributes that differentiate it from other bags available in today’s market.

Likewise, the accompanying arrow rest in this bundle performs its function competently, although it may not astound anyone with its performance. However, these additions remain valuable assets to the complete package and prove advantageous for novice archers or individuals seeking a cost-effective and dependable setup.

Final Thoughts

The TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow serves as an ideal starting point for novices eager to embark on their exciting archery journey.

Boasting a robust construction, this beginner-friendly bow allows for effortless assembly and disassembly, and includes a handy stringer tool that simplifies the restringing process. What’s more, its feather-light weight of a mere 2.2lbs and sleek design ensure convenient portability during thrilling hunting escapades or while honing your skills at the archery range.

However, there are some downsides to consider before purchasing this bow. The arrows tend to come loose after a couple of shots, putting the shooter at risk of breaking the bow. The draw weight is adjustable via its bolts but they vibrate and make loud clicking noises when being tuned. Also, while it’s advertised as “silent,” it actually produces some noise which may alert prey or cause irritation when practicing in indoor settings.

Despite these flaws, the TOPARCHERY Archery 56″ Takedown Hunting Recurve Bow could still be worthy for someone looking for a reliable budget option. Its shaky performance can still help beginners develop their weak points while staying within their financial means. Just don’t expect it to fulfill every aspect you desire from an archery bow because remember you get what you paid for!
